Here’s today’s “Ask The Morning After”.
Hi Morning After,
I am a Mother of a high school student who is expected to participate in the upcoming PARCC testing. My husband and I are on opposite sides of the educational fence on this subject. He feels that our child should participate and I feel that time out for testing is critical time away from much needed core learning. I feel so strongly about this subject that I sent our child to school with an opt out letter. My husband is not completely in agreement with my decision and thinks that our child will be the lone opt out kid in room alone during testing. I look at the time as an opportunity for our child to not be preoccupied by testing (that counts for nothing until 2018) and as time that can be focused on subject areas of academic concern. To ease my husband’s mind I would like to know if there are other parents in Cape May County that have opted their children out of PARCC testing or am I the only one who sees the madness placed on our students and teaching staff?
