Here’s this week’s “Ask The Morning After”!
Dear Morning after Crew,
My son left the nest to attend college last year. He did well academically and seemed to be very well adjusted to college life. In light of that my husband and I agreed that it was time to renovate my son’s room into a media center/home theater. My husband likes to call it his man cave NOT! (I could fill a show with that issue, LOL) anyway my son decided not to go back to school after the summer and is now living back at home. We have had to relinquish our new media room back to his bedroom. My husband is NOT happy to give up his man cave and the money we are out on renovations, and I am disappointed that our son has left school. On top of that my husband told him he would have to pay rent and wants to charge him 300.00 a month. I think that that is too much and I don’t feel that he should have to pay a set fee as this is his home as well. He should contribute to the household but why does there have to be a set fee and what is appropriate? I personally feel that my husband is trying to recoup the amount of money we put into renovations because he is upset that he is losing his man cave and is less concerned about what is going on with our son. He says he is trying to teach him a life lesson but I am worried that our son will no longer feel welcome in his family home.

Should the son be paying $300 a month in rent? What would you do?
