The Wildwood Leader reports that there has been a rebirth of youth football in Wildwood. In recent weeks nearly 85 football players, from grades one through eight, have been practicing at Maxwell Field in Wildwood without pads, as they prepare for a comeback season. Wildwood has not fielded a football team at the pre-high school level since 2011. The Wildwood Junior Warriors are relying on local businesses for donations to purchase uniform and equipment, raising over $6,000 so far. Former Wildwood High School football coach and his dad Gary are working with the players and plan to start competition against other teams on September 19th.
