Woodbine awarded a contract for the Safe Routes to Schools project, at the February 17 Council meeting. Contract was awarded to Charles Marandino, LLC, of Milmay, who was the low bidder at $267,843.77
Other bidders were Bud Concrete $319,432.97; Diamond Construction, $298,161; Landberg Construction, $333,462; Lexa Concrete, $285,816.32; Ricky Slade Construction, $310,114.40; SMB Paving, $301, 237.37
The project will be funded by a New Jersey Department of Transportation grant in the amount of $275,000 under the Safe Routes to Schools Program. This grant will go to the next phase, Infrastructure, portion of the Woodbine Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Program, which is comprised of three inter-related projects. These funds were made available through the SAFETEA-LU federal legislation.
The area of the project targets the neighborhood north of DeHirsch Avenue and Route 557 and the neighborhood west of Washington Avenue.
