WOMAN AND BABY RESCUED AFTER JUMPING OFF ATLANTIC CITY JETTY

On Sunday afternoon a woman with an infant jumped into the ocean in Atlantic City and was rescued by local fishermen. Police say the unidentified woman threw a baby into the water and then jumped off a jetty in an apparent suicide attempt at Pacific Avenue in the inlet section of the city. Three fisherman entered the water and brought the two to safety. The baby was resuscitated by one of the men, Tom Bell, before he handed it to local EMS personnel. The incident is under investigation by authorities and charges may be lodged against the woman.
