Gov. Chris Christie unveiled a sweeping reform plan to saving the gaming industry on Wednesday. Locally, people are wondering what the future holds for the Wildwoods Convention Center. The Center remains in good financial standing and is not costing the state dollars, according to officials with the Convention Center. State Senator Jeff Van Drew said it is unclear what all of these moves mean for the Convention Center. Christie wants to close or make the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority a landlord. It current is the governing body of the Convention Center. The state could continue to run the Convention Center in some manner, or this could be the move towards privatization. Van Drew said it will be one of the many issues that will have to be hashed out in Trenton over the coming weeks and months as this proposal is discussed and elements of it are implemented.
