A key factor to study tourism in the Wildwoods shows that this year is slightly behind 2015. The tourism tax revenues through the end of Oct. is two percent behind 2015, but is eight percent above the five year average. John Siciliano, the Executive Director of the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement Development Authority, said that one of the factors in being behind was Labor Day weekend became a washout. There was a storm that was forecasted that never took place and many people were not in town that weekend as a result. Overall, Siciliano said the island has shown growth over recent years and noted 2015 was the record for tourism tax collected.
