A new school budget presented by the Wildwood Board of Education will ask voters for a seven cent tax increase. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the new budget calls for a significant tax hike, but the actual tax levy will remain the same as it was last year. Superintendent Dennis Anderson told the Press that 14 layoffs last year helped keep the tax levy stable. The increase in the tax rate is caused largely by a dropoff of the ratable base in the resort. A public hearing on the public will be held Tuesday afternoon at the high school cafeteria.
