The budget news has been grim, but Cape May County has two good pieces of news from the proposal from Gov. Chris Christie. The budget calls for beach replenishment funding to be put back to its $25 million level, and for tourism to stay at the $9 million level. Cape May County Tourism Director Diane Wieland was at the Governor’s Tourism Conference last week and was pleased with the words she heard from Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno. Wieland acknowledges that everyone has to do more with less, but was happy the minimum funding requirement would be hit, especially with the return on investment that tourism brings.
