The effects of Hurricane Irene are still being felt today. A road damaged during that storm is finally going to be reopened this week. Atlantic County officials expect to reopen Weymouth Road (Rt. 559) over Deep Run in Hamilton Township on Wednesday at 9 AM upon completion of the installation of a $1.3 million temporary steel truss bridge. The temporary bridge is eligible for full reimbursement from the Federal Highway Administration’s Emergency Relief Program that requires completion within 180 days of the disaster. The temporary bridge can be stored for later use if necessary. Its use expectancy is 7 to 10 years.
