An audit done of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority turned up huge financial waste. State Comptroller Matthew Boxer found $43 million in waste during a recent review of the authority’s finances. The waste included tax dollars paying for an employee bowling league, bonuses for working on your birthday, and free E-Z Pass transpoder use going to and from work. A scholarship fund was also set up for children of parents that work at the Authority. A number of reforms were announced by the Transportation Department to reel in on these wasteful abuses of taxpayer dollars.
