A new contract is in place between the teachers union and Vineland Board of Education. The agreement calls for teachers at Vineland High School to have an additional thirty 30 minutes of teacher-pupil contact time. The contract also provides modification to health care benefits and locks in the employee contribution rate for three years. For the deal, the teachers will get an increase of 2.5 percent per year. The agreement acknowledges the change from a nine period day to an eight period day at the high school but maintains that a teacher can be required to teach up to six instructional classes. This change will be effective for the 2015-2016 school year and provides the District savings due to reduction in personnel costs associated with staffing an eight period day.
