The New Jersey State Police have arrested Alfred Jones, 37, of Vineland, after an off-duty trooper spotted him breaking into an abandoned house in Pittsgrove Township. The officer called for backup from the Bridgeton Barracks. Believing he fled on foot, the New Jersey State Police Aviation and K-9 Units responded to assist with the search. After a brief search, State Police Aviation was able to locate Jones hiding in a tree. Troopers on the ground were guided to his location where he was removed from the tree and placed under arrest. Jones was transported to Bridgeton Barracks where he was processed and charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest. He was lodged at Salem County Jail in lieu of $50,000 full bail.
