New video evidence released by the Department of Education suggests Gov. Chris Christie was not telling the truth about New Jersey’s attempt to correct its application. The video released shows the board asking state officials a question about budget numbers when they were having a hard time locating the information they needed, and Education Commissioner Bret Schundler being unable to locate it. Christie said in a later interview that he passed along what was explained to him about the presentation, since he was not there. The New Jersey Education Association and United States Senator Frank Lautenberg were both critical of Christie publicly about this flub.
