A two vehicle accident took place this morning. Middle Township Police say the incident took place at the intersection of Route 9 and County Route 657 in Cape May Court House. Investigation revealed that Ambulance A-1406 of the Court House Rescue Squad was travelling north on Route 9 with its lights and sirens on going to a medical call. The ambulance, driven by William Belles 4th, of Rio Grande, stopped at the light and waited for traffic to stop before proceeding through the intersection. When the ambulance was in the intersection a 1999 Honda Accord driven by Merrill Anderson, age 19 of Marmora, was travelling west on CR657 through the intersection and struck the ambulance. EMT Samantha Kelly, age 27 of Rio Grande, was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by the Rio Grande Rescue Squad due to neck pain. Belles also went to Cape Regional Medical Center due to wrist pain. Anderson was not injured. Anderson was issued a summons for careless driving.
