Senator Jeff Van Drew recently sent a letter to the state Transportation Commissioner – who also serves as chairman of the board of the South Jersey Transportation Authority – requesting assistance from SJTA to address a sorely needed expansion of public transportation in the Atlantic, Cumberland and Cape May county area. Noting the existing challenges already facing the region, the senator said the lack of transportation makes it difficult for thousands of residents in the Cape May and Cumberland area to get to work and creates challenges for students who attend local colleges in the South Jersey area. In his letter to Commissioner and Board Chairman Jamie Fox, Senator Van Drew requested that SJTA conduct an evaluation of authority funding streams in an attempt to bring more transportation services to Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland counties.
