With news that the state is not going to repair the Beesley’s Point Bridge, something needs to happen according to State Senator Jeff Van Drew. Van Drew spoke to Coastal Broadcasting who said the next best option is to look at a double span Garden State Parkway bridge. He said that doing nothing wasn’t acceptable. The fear from evacuation experts is if something structural wrong happens to the current Parkway bridge, there will be no second option for people trying to exit the county north. Van Drew said billions of dollars are being spent on transportation in the north and central parts of the state and the wealth needs to be spread around. The Beesley’s Point Bridge is likely going to become a fishing pier.
