Atlantic City Electric is warning customers that there is a phone scam going on where the caller claims to represent the utility and asks for a payment pending the shutoff of service. The utility reports that the caller indicates that the customer should purchase a pre-paid debit card to prevent shutoffs, which Atlantic City Electric never suggests.
