Upper Township Committee introduced an ordinance Monday that would amend redevelopment plans to include a substation for the Ocean Wind 1 wind energy project at the former B.L. England power plant. Public comments were heard on the first reading as some raised concerns over the project which would be connected to the larger offshore wind farm that has been scrutinized by shore communities in recent months. The Township Planning Board would still have to review a site plan. A public hearing and final vote for the plan is scheduled for February 27.
