A budget was introduced in Upper Township this week and it included no local purpose tax. Officials there were able to avoid adding the tax, despite cuts across the board in state aid. B.L. England, a power plant in the township, is the reason the township has no local purpose tax. A little over $6 million will be coming in from the plant this year. A public hearing on the just over $11 million budget will be coming next month. No layoffs will have to be implemented along with this budget plan.
