Upper Township will look to save some money by combining parts of departments. The Commission there will hear the first reading of an ordinance on Monday to “merge certain functions of the recreation department into the department of public works and to create the department of sports and recreational programs and to add or delete township positions to reflect township operations.” The committee is looking to avoid replacing certain managers that are retiring and using management positions to oversee more functions of different departments. Officials there say it is another way they can save money in future budgets.
