A coastal storm that will impact our region for the next 24 hours has already resulted in some power outages for our region. Atlantic City Electric reports scattered power outages today in the lower section of Cape May County, Atlantic City, and other areas due to strong gusty winds. Wind gusts have approached 60mph during the early afternoon hours in Ocean City. The National Weather Service now calls for moderate coastal flooding at time of high tide both Wednesday afternoon and early Thursday morning. High tide will impact coastal communities shortly before the drive home from work today, and also around 4:00am Thursday. Residents who live in flood prone areas are being advised to move their cars off streets that typically flood during storm events.
This storm could end as a period of snow early Thursday morning. A High Wind Warning remains in effect for strong gusty winds throughout the county through Thursday morning. Moderate to major beach erosion is expected.
