A salvage crew claims they found the single-engine Mooney M20 airplane that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday. The Press of Atlantic City reports that John Ryan, owner of Towboat US, told them his company located the plane at about 8 p.m. on Saturday and turned it over to federal officials with a body inside. The pilot was reported to be 68 year-old Michael Moir, of Gaylord Michigan, who was flying solo to Atlantic City but never made it to the airport safely. The newspaper report said that neither the State Police nor the Coast Guard could confirm that the plane had been located.
