UPDATE: PEDESTRIAN STRUCK AND KILLED ON RT. 30 IN GALLOWAY TWP.

A pedestrian was struck and killed on Route 30 in Galloway Township Wednesday morning. The Press of Atlantic City reports that 51 year-old Sushma Patel, of Galloway, was struck by a 2009 Ford Taurus driven by 52 year-old Maria Rose of Absecon at 6:50 a.m. The accident occurred on Route 30 near Poplar Avenue, as Patel was crossing the road. A second vehicle then struck Patel but did not stop. Witnesses say it was a white SUV and police are looking for the vehicle with possible lower front end damage. Patel was pronounced dead at the scene and the investigation continues with no charges filed as of Wednesday night.
