A local man who is a suspect in a murder that took place nearly 30 years ago walked out of the Cape May County Jail on Tuesday. George J. Carty had his bail lowered, and he walked out of the county jail Tuesday evening. Carty is a suspect in the killing of John Attenborough back in 1982. Carty says he didn’t do it. This week, a state appellate court ruled that a statement he gave to police three years ago will not be admissible in his upcoming trial. Carty had been jailed since December of 2007.
