Here we go again, another major snow event is coming for Cape May County. The National Weather Service has now posted a Winter Storm Warning for our region for the potential of 12-18 inches of snow. The big winter storm is expected to explode this evening and move up the coast, bringing a heavy snow and very strong winds to our region during the daytime and evening hours on Sunday.
The snow will begin after midnight on Sunday and there will be a light snowfall at daybreak. Then, the storm will intensify and bring very heavy snow to our region during the daytime and early evening hours Sunday. Wind gusts of 55mph are possible during this snowstorm which will create blizzard-like conditions.
The heaviest snow is expected to fall during the late afternoon hours on Sunday. Travel is expected to become difficult if not impossible on Sunday. If you have to get any food or medications, do it Saturday evening.
There could be some minor to moderate coastal flooding associated with the storm event during time of high tide. Areas that typically get high water during coastal flooding events may see some flooding issues on Sunday.
Stay tuned for more information.
