UNSEALING OF ADOPTED BIRTH RECORDS TO BE POSSIBLY VOTED ON

An Assembly committee will consider legislation that would allow adopted adults to see their original birth records. The Human Services Committee will consider the bill and could move on it. The legislation would allow the original birth parents up to one year to file with the state to keep their names private, or else the adopted adult would be able to get the original birth certificate. The measure has already gained the support of the Senate.
