A group of U.S. Senators and representatives from the Army Corp of Engineers were taken on a tour of Long Beach Island on Monday. The senators wanted to see damage from Hurricane Sandy first-hand, before authorizing approval of President Obama’s request for over $60 billion of federal aid for the Jersey Shore. The group also observed the positive impact of dunes from beach replenishment, that protected the town of Brant Beach from storm damage.
