U.S. SENATE ELECTION LOOKS LIKE LOWEST VOTER TURNOUT IN STATEWIDE ELECTION HISTORY

The special election this week for the U.S. Senate this week could be the lowest voter turnout in history. Final votes are being counted but with 99% of the votes in, the voter turnout is currently at 24 percent, the previous low was 27 percent in 2011. Many were concerned that a split election this year would create low turnout in both elections.
