Cape May City has a budget proposal that would raise the tax rate in the city. Manager Bruce Macleod made the budget presentation. The $15.5 million proposal would increase taxes by two cents. The new budget would be 2.7 percent more than last year.
Council also voted on a couple of measures to bring in more revenue. Council voted to to increase beach tag fees by $2 from $13 to $15 for a weekly badge. Also, an $8 per mile fee has been added to ambulance calls.
