DEAL TO KEEP TAJ MAHAL OPEN FALLS THROUGH, ICAHN PLEDGES DOLLARS TO KEEP OPEN

Lots of breaking news involving the Trump Taj Mahal on Thursday. First the UNITE HERE Local 54 President Bob McDevitt said a deal fell through to keep the casino open. Carl Icahn has pledged $20 million to keep the casino open indefinitely. Icahn released a public letter saying that the $20 million will be used under the current terms of the casino contract as Icahn works with all of the stakeholders to find a more permanent settlement. Trump Entertainment Resorts is going through bankruptcy and Icahn holds the mortgage on the property. Icahn said if he can get the necessary deal done with the union and state, he will invest $100 million into the property. Icahn owns the Tropicana Casino as well.
