The Tropicana casino is reportedly asking for major givebacks in it’s next contract according to a union rep. In a report by NBC-40, Bob McDevitt, president of Local 54 of the Unite-HERE union, says Tropicana told the union that “major reductions” in union contracts are necessary to “avoid the fate of other failed casinos” and thousands of lost jobs. The report also says the owner of the Tropicana, billionaire Carl Icahn, wants major union givebacks before he’ll agree to spend $100 million to buy the Trump Taj Mahal, which could be closing in November.
