The weekend is still several days away, but weather forecasters are looking at the potential of heavy rains for the northeast coastline. Overnight on Monday Tropical Storm Joaquin formed near Bermuda. Some computer models predict 6-12 inches of rain and strong winds could cover New Jersey towards the end of the weekend. It is possible for Joaquin to develop into a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 60-80 mph. Coastal residents will be closely watching the weather this week as the storm heads in a northwesterly direction.
