TOURISM MAY GET A FINANCIAL BOOST FROM TRENTON

It’s quite possible the State of New Jersey is ready to dedicate more dollars to tourism and the arts.  The Senate State Government Committee approved a measure on Monday that would require the state to dedicate more money it derives from the rental of hotel rooms to tourism and arts promotion.  Today, the state commits 27 percent of a hotel occupancy tax to tourism; eight years ago, the amount was 59 percent.
