Local residents north of Cape May County had a rough time Wednesday morning with nasty weather conditions that affected the morning commute. Areas of Atlantic county were hit with torrential downpours and thunderstorms that caused flash flooding, closing many roads, including areas of the Black Horse Pike and Tilton Road. Some areas received two to four inches of rain in less than two hours, at the same time that high tide occurred along the shore. Wind gusts of 30-40 mph were reported and penny-sized hail was seen in Mays Landing and Egg Harbor Township.
