TOLLS GOING UP ON MAJOR BRIDGES

Be prepared to pay an extra dollar when heading to Pennsylvania next year. The Delaware River Port Authority decided not to delay a toll increase at the four bridges the agency maintains. The Betsy Ross, Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman and Commodore Barry Bridges will all see a $1 increase to $5 per crossing on July 1. A delay in the toll hike would have hurt the authority’s credit rating. A 10 percent increase on PATCO service has been delayed from Jan. 1 to July 1.
