Increase volume on the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike means that tolls revenue increased in 2014. The Turnpike Authority reported that $1.63 billion was taken in, which beat estimates by $11.93 million. Better weather and dropping gas prices were among the main reasons why revenue was up. A majority of the money has gone back into improvements to the roadway, like the removal of the lights on the Garden State Parkway.
