THORTON AND SHEPPARD OFFICIALLY FILE PETITIONS

The Freeholder race in Cape May County is officially going to be contested. Gerald Thorton and Susan Sheppard filed their nominating petitions to run in the Republican primary. The filing deadline is today at 4 p.m. Thorton is an incumbent in the race. The two will face John McCann and incumbent Ralph Bakley. The latter two have the support of the Cape May County Regular Republican Party. Thorton lost out in the committee vote and decided to run on his own in the primary with Sheppard. Sheppard is the Ocean City Council President.
