North Wildwood Police took a report regarding a theft of a purse from an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the Wawa parking lot at Spruce & Maryland Avenues on Sunday. The alleged suspect, Joseph Kelly, reportedly left the area prior to police arrival and was not in custody at this time. On Monday, Detective Justin Melo located Kelly after seeing him sitting as a passenger in a vehicle travelling on Route 9 in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township. Detective Melo, with the assistance of the Middle Township Police Department, stopped the vehicle and arrested Kelly without incident. Kelly, 25, residing in Villas, was arrested and charged with burglary and theft. He was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility on $25,000 full cash bail.
