A man fell prey to a text message based scam out of California. The News of Cumberland County reports a man in Vineland was told he needed to change his pin via text message, from an author that claimed to his local credit union. The man called the number that was in the message followed an automated call system to change his pin. The report says the man lost almost $600. Police got a couple of other similar reports, but the amounts weren’t big enough to turn over to the FBI. The credit union gave the customers back their money.
