TAX INCREASE PROPOSED IN MIDDLE TOWNSHIP

A nearly three cent tax increase could be coming to taxpayers in Middle Township. The Middle Township Committee proposed a 2.8-cent tax increase to the budget in the township. Committeeman Dan Lockwood told Coastal Broadcasting that cuts to state aid were among the biggest reasons for the increase. The township is still negogating pay raises for the police department and dispatchers, Lockwood said that the public works department has agreed to not take a pay increase for one year.
