TAX DAY COMES LATE THIS YEAR

Procrastinators will get a few extra days to file their taxes this year. Taxes don’t have to be filed until April 18 this year. Emancipation Day is April 16, which is a Saturday and is therefore celebrated on April 15 in Washington D.C. Rules state that tax returns must be filed on the next business day, which is April 18. Emancipation Day is the day that an order was signed in Washington D.C. that freed the slaves there.
