Although Lower Township’s Matt Szczur was not on the Chicago Cub’s playoff roster during their run to a World Series title, he was able to experience the thrills from the dugout and contribute in other ways. First baseman Anthony Rizzo was in a slump during the NL Championship Series until he started using Szczur’s bat and hit two homers against the Dodgers and another home run in Game 6 of the World Series. As a member of the Cubs team, Szczur will receive a World Series ring, a full share of the team’s winnings, and a ride in Friday’s parade.
