On Friday afternoon Matt Szczur smacked the game winning hit in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the game 11-10 for the Chicago Cubs over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The next day the Cubs optioned Szczur back to Triple A Iowa and promoted pitched Brian Schlitter up to the major league club. On Sunday the Lower Cape May Regional High School graduate went 1 for 3 with a double, a stolen base and two walks for the Iowa Cubs in a 7-5 loss to the Oklahoma City Dodgers.
