On the day before March Madness officially begins, two high ranking lawmakers are going to talk about how much the state could use sports betting. Senate President Steve Sweeney and Senator Jim Whelan will talk about what sports betting could bring to the state before the basketball tournament. In 2012 it was reported that Las Vegas casinos generate an estimated $100 million in revenue from sports betting during the NCAA tournament. Lawmakers here say the state could help from having some of that generated revenue. The U.S. Supreme Court is the last hope for the state to legalize sports betting.
