SWEENEY TO HOLD NEWS CONFERENCE ON TAJ MAHAL FRIDAY

Another Atlantic City casino could be closed next month. The Trump Taj Mahal said if it doesn’t get breaks from Atlantic City, and the unions, then it will be forced to close. Senate President Steve Sweeney will join with Bob McDevitt, President of Local 54 of Unite HERE, casino workers and public officials to denounce Carl Icahn’s role in Atlantic City and the threat he poses to the Trump Taj Mahal, the casino’s 2,800 jobs and the employees’ health benefits on Friday. Icahn holds a controlling interest in the Taj Mahal and is threatening to take away the workers’ health benefits. Icahn also owns outright the Tropicana Casino and Resort.
