SUPREME COURT WON’T HEAR APPEAL FROM SHARPE JAMES

The country’s highest court has turned away an appeal from former Newark Mayor Sharpe James. The U.S. Supreme Court won’t hear an appeal by the former mayor who was convicted in 2008 for assisting in land deals going to his mistress at the time. He was previously given 27 months in federal jail for the crime. James was appealing because one of the jurors had both of his parents employed by the city and were hired by James.
