STUDY: STATE LAWMAKERS ARE MOSTLY OLDER WHITE MEN, STATE POPULATION ISN’T

A new study by Stockton University says that state lawmakers are not representative of the people they represent. The data shows that the Senate and Assembly are more old, white, and male than the state’s population. The median age in the two legislative bodies is 56, which is 17 years old than the median age in the state. Women only make up 30 percent of the seats, but 51 percent of the population.
