We all saw the devastation brought by Hurricane Sandy, but four South Jersey beaches actually gained sand from the storm. Stockton College Coastal Geologist Stewart Farrell told the Press of Atlantic City that Cape May Point, Cape May, Wildwood Crest and Wildwood actually gained elevation from the effects of the storm last fall. Farrell claimed that while Cape May County overall lost 2.2 million cubic yards of sand, Wildwood beaches gained three feet of elevation but lost 100 to 150 feet of shoreline.
