More than two dozen homes were damaged, and power outages in some areas are expected to linger through Wednesday morning following a powerful thunderstorm that tore through Cape May County Tuesday afternoon. The National Weather Service had posted a tornado warning for the southern part of the county which was hardest hit during the storm event. Dozens of trees were toppled, roof damage was incurred by homes and businesses, and the cleanup continues. Municipal damage estimates are being gathered by the Cape May County Office of Emergency Management. More than 30,000 customers of Atlantic City Electric were without power Tuesday night; utility crews were assessing and repairing some of the damage throughout the night.
